Our Story

Founded in 1956, family-owned Steren Electronics is the leading provider of consumer electronics in Mexico. Consumers can buy Steren’s quality products from more than 400 Steren-operated retail stores and major national chains in Mexico, and we are expanding into Costa Rica, Colombia, Panama and the Dominican Republic.

In the U.S., Steren supplies electronics and accessories to some of the nation’s largest cable and telecommunications companies, including AT&T, Cox, DirecTV, Dish Network and Spectrum. In fact, you can find a Steren product in nearly every connected home in North America.

Our products and solutions have been used across diversified and growing markets including broadband, data communications, consumer/retail and industrial.

With coast-to-coast distribution in the U.S., hundreds of retail locations throughout Mexico, Central America, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic, as well as manufacturing facilities in Asia, Steren Solutions has a global reach. 1956
Steren Mexico is founded

Founded in the center of Mexico City in 1956, as a small store with its main business being the sales of bulbs and electronic accessories.

1960
Expanded Product Line

By the 1960s Steren expands its line of products, selling bulbs, electronic supplies, and speakers. Moving from only selling speakers, at the same time, Steren starts an assembly line and eventually moves to manufacturing Speakers.

1971
Steren Expansion Beyond Mexico City

In 1971, Steren expands beyond Mexico City and it opens another store in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Expanded Product Line

In 1971, with the company’s expansion the company moved into a new facility that would accommodate the growing number of employees and allow for more warehousing which yielded a better response to customer demands.

Steren Expansion Goes International
Steren acquires Pro Am Electronics

In 1982, Steren acquired Pro Am Electronics, an electronics store in San Diego, California.

Steren Electronics Wholesale

In 1986, Pro Am Electronics officially becomes Steren Electronics focusing fully on wholesaling.

Steren Mexico Franchise

n 1992, Steren Mexico implements a franchising model growing its presence and cementing its status as the leader in electronic components in Mexico.

New Distribution Center

In 1996, Steren opens a distribution center in Tijuana, Baja California.

Steren acquires The Jumper Shop in Livermore, CA.

In 2000, the premiere manufacturer of high-quality coaxial and fiber cable jumpers used in the installation of broadband cable, VoIP digital telephony, and data systems.

Steren Enters the Broadband and Satellite Markets

In 2001, with its Pico Macom acquisition, Steren adds a leading manufacturer of broadband and satellite Headend and drop electronics and components to its portfolio.

Steren Opens Distribution Center in Miami, Florida

To better service customers on the east coast Steren opened a distribution center in Miami, Florida and a Quality Control and Quality Assurance center in Shanghai, China.

Steren acquires CASE-SRS

A major distributor of installation supplies and accessories to the satellite, broadband and structured wiring industries.

Steren acquires Lightwave Solutions

A developer of advanced optical transport systems for service providers in the broadband industry.

In 2008, Steren China Office receives TL 9000 / ISO 9001 Quality Management System Certification by SGS.

Steren International Expansion

In 2012, Steren International expanded with the opening of stores in the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Colombia.

Steren Acquires Circuit Direct

In 2016, an online retailer of specialty electronics and accessories becomes part of Steren.
